poem (artbook arrives from japan)

art book arrives from japan
& our NY pencils applaud,
cycling home through rural self-image
while the simulacra keep adding up
to an edgy mathematics,
cornered by their frames that shift
as quick as look at us.
how many nights without sleep
lead to the past sneaking up again?
tobacco flashback versus partial recall
as your salad quietens down
& our bodies drift north --
kyoto / staten island / the café's lo-fi hum.
