signal-to-noise
your heat takes on politics'
ugly shape, its dull exclusions.
the high court splashes down
mid-pacific & the ripples
eat the beaches.
you can say what you like
but freedom of speech
doesn't make you interesting,
& we in the cheaper seats
applaud your pensions,
your sloganeering.
you leave us bored & scared
& we need your ignorance,
your hatred.
you throw the decent
into sharp relief.
your grins tilt
like the sails on the opera house,
they fall from brochures
as you walk away.
tomorrow we move into the past.
