cycling today — sumie bought herself a new bike & we went cycling together today with hana strapped into a baby carrier/hiking pack thing on my back…

this is perhaps every bit as dangerous as it sounds, & could well qualify me for the parental hall of shame, but what the hell… we were careful (e.g. didn’t ride down any stairs, stuck to the least trafficked streets we could find) & hana seemed to enjoy it, & we certainly did, so i don’t particularly care… hana’s currently too little for any of the available baby seats on the market, so it’s either strap her into the hiking pack or leave her home alone, which even i have reservations about…

sumie’s new ride — is a louis garneau xc casper, & looks exactly like this…

it’s a nice ride, pretty similar spec to my old mongoose, & sumie picked it up on sale for quite a bit less than the recommended retail… anyway, we cruised around ebisu & the surrounding suburbs for an hour & a half or thereabouts & a good time was had by all…

put my bike back together — sumie’s new bike finally got me motivated enough to pull the giant out of the bike bag & put it back together… i started getting up early & going for rides on the kona last week, & yeah, i dunno, it just doesn’t feel right, even after replacing the stem… so i think i’m gonna get rid of the kona & start putting some serious miles in on the giant, which i really do love riding…

to sleep, perchance to cramp — ok. i’d better get my ass to bed so i can get my ass up & onto the bike in the morning…

unless i’m much mistaken (as usual) — i think today would be kevin & karen’s sixth anniversary… happy anniversary guys! hope things are going well…
