magicdogbot!
magicdogbot defend of universe! roll long defeat badness & dishearten wickedness! go champion! go dogbot!
magicdogbot was the first cartoonish kind of robot i tried rendering, & i was pretty happy with the way he turned out. a cheerful, inquisitive little robot, in an ideal world magicdogbot would measure about 40cm from the bottom of his shiny tyres to the tips of his silver antennae. i've rendered him a few times with various metallic textures, but i keep coming back to bright, plastic finishes.
the orange dogbot is the original (&, in some ways, the best -- or, at least, the first) but if you look closely at the image you can see he was rendered using a relatively unrealistic light source (compare the shadows on the orange dogbot to those on any of the green dogbots to see what i mean).
the life of a tiny robot is a busy one, & magicdogbot's many adventures may well be documented once my pov-ray skills have developed to the point where i can do landscapes and interiors that don't look too dubious.
for now, however, magicdogbot's main claim to fame is his appearance (with sarah michelle geller) in stone temple pilots' video for "sour girl"...
