::: some assembly required/infectious little mongrel
so as it turns out — lenovo were planning to send me my laptop in installments, but over a series of weeks rather than days… (always a risk when the small print is written in kanji…) but anyway, my do-it-yourself X61 self assembly kit arrived a couple of weeks back, & it’s pretty sweet… nice keyboard, weighs next to nothing… seems to run a little warm maybe — the palm-rest gets a little toastier than the big thinkpad, which might be interesting come summer time, but we’ll see how it goes…
things i wish i could stop:
- wanting to buy messenger bags… although, on the other hand, i only need to buy two more to have a different bag for every day of the week… (uh, better make that one more…)
- smoking… except, i kinda don’t wanna either… i could do without the occasional bout of hacking cough & the omnipresent brown teeth though… & yes, documented health risks, etc, etc… damn that sweet taste of laramie…
- waking up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason & deciding that reading/surfing/writing for a couple of hours is a great idea…
- flying off the handle for no good reason… who are you calling sleep deprived?
babies, they’re a virus — or, at least, they catch & then freely distribute viruses… haruki came down with something nasty last sunday & sumie & i had to take turns taking days off work to look after him… naturally, we both got mild cases of whatever it was he had as well… hana, on the other hand, sailed through the week with barely a sneeze or a sniffle… about which, don’t get me wrong, i’m not complaining in the slightest… the good news is haruki’s pretty much back to normal now… good news for everything except those parts of the house he has his heart set on picking up & banging against the floor…
snowbound — it pretty much snowed all day in ebisu today… we had some light, sleety, slushy kinda snow a couple of wednesdays back, but today was more like the real deal… not a huge amount, but enough to fake a fairly reasonable winter wonderland kinda feel… having grown up in the tropics, watching snow fall just makes me stupidly happy…
