baby enjoys earthquake — is that a big truck going past or OHMIGODIT’S WOAAAHHHHH SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE BAM RUMBLE RATTLE WOAH SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE RATTLE RUMBLE SHAKE wooee ga waa gurgle gurgle smile…
father not so much — pretty big shake on saturday afternoon around 4.30… no real damage, a few people with (as far as i know) minor injuries from falling signs & stuff like that, although it was big enough to shut down most of the subways & JR lines for a few hours… & certainly big enough to give me pause on the second floor of the house in ebisu… hanachan, however, seemed to think it was a bit of fun… she likes being rocked in her special baby chair, & if her bed is going to start shaking about, well, that’s fine too… sumie was out in shibuya & got held up a little on the way home due to the transport disruptions… we had a few things fall off shelves & a couple of pictures take a dive off the walls, but nothing major. & of course, as per the last few quakes, i’ve now got a severe case of sliding window syndrome (every time someone opens one or drags something across the floor my pulse accelerates like you wouldn’t believe… this will continue for a couple of weeks…)
ouch — hurt my shoulder last week via a combination of basketball & carrying the baby… by friday night it was so bad i went to the hospital to get it checked out, where i had the great good fortune to be seen by a doctor whose idea of determining exactly how much pain i was in was to give a very forceful two fingered jab to the affected area. not happy, jan. didn’t have a very comfortable weekend, but it’s finally coming good (in so far as the pain’s not so intense, the constant throbbing has stopped, & i’ve regained a few degrees of movement… obviously, something of a work in progress…)
