some thank yous due — to christopher, for sending post cards that are, honestly, just too funny… & to anne, dave & dawn for the present, which we love…

time flies — the weeks go faster when you’re working… i realise this may just be a function of coming off an extended period of not working (i mean, sure, i can remember several weeks endured in previous jobs that each lasted for months), but i think it’s also got a fair bit to do with the fact that i’m really enjoying it…

heat wave, typhoons, volcano, earthquakes, tsunami — & then today, suddenly, the weather was fantastically autumnal… clear, cool, & not so humid… Sumie had classes today, so i went cycling for a few hours… shibuya, daikanyama, shinagawa, back to shibuya, sangenchaya, yutenji, home… fantastic… the first time i was in shibuya it was just after ten, so there were only thousands instead of the usual zillions of people around… tokyo is just brilliant… after i got home i did some housework & did some study of my own (must… collect… more certificates… from bill… gates…) & tomorrow, i get to go to work…

too cool — wow, one week down, & i’m enjoying work more than you’d believe… it’s brilliant, totally engaging, & yeah, i just love it… this week was largely orientation kinda stuff, some relatively low level project preparation & a bit of cleaning, sorting & cataloguing, but it’s just brilliant to be working again, & it’s a fantastic environment…
