traffic report — the commuters are back from their summer holidays…
screechie — v-brakes. gotta love ’em. i’m cranking down oxford street this morning at forty-five km/h when this guy cruises past in a white van & decides he needs to swerve in front of me & hit his brakes really hard. at which point i’m suddenly trying to avoid becoming an instant tailgate mural. as it turned out, i grabbed big enough handfuls to lock both wheels, which generated a pretty satisfying Loud Dramatic Screech… even more satisfying was getting off the brakes before i got too far outta shape & the front end washed out… to cap it off, my reflexes were good enough for me to flick around his right rear corner with absolutely nil muralisation… & then we played Don’t Make Eye Contact With The Cyclist at the next set of lights…
status report — work is totally ballistic at the moment. sheesh. it’s only january. moving house is going reasonably well, still gotta fair bit of packing to do, & i gotta dispose of some surplus furniture & books, but the removalists are set for next tuesday morning & i’ve gotten rid of a heap of old junk & yeah, it’s all starting to fall into place…
