biorhythmic
repeating yourself to a later grave
triggers the onset of middle age,
birthdays receding at the speed of hairline
& somewhere there’s a baby carriage
with you in it, you’re reading
“image of the Buddha preaching”
to a pack of pre-schoolers who totally get it,
their estranged parents pick up the tab
& it’s off to the shops in your tired monaro
to show movie critics
the truth about flashback.
in conventional drama things are just
heating up – blurry vision
on special forces tv / all that sparkling ordnance
magicdog.com’s holiday reading recommendations — so you’ve wrangled some time off & you’re looking for something to read? i can totally recommend anything by haruki murakami. over the last few weeks i’ve been immersed in:
- a wild sheep chase
- dance dance dance
- hard-boiled wonderland and the end of the world
- norwegian wood
- the wind-up bird chronicles
- south of the border, west of the sun
next up for me in my adventures in the ever-shrinking list of everything else murakami’s ever written are:
- the elephant vanishes
- sputnik sweetheart
- underground
totally great, all of them… one caveat for the uninitiated — dance dance dance is a sequel to a wild sheep chase, so mebbe you might wanna tackle those two in order…
